Mah Jongg is a strategic board game that originated in China and it is commonly played by 4 players.

 

Mid-Late 1800s

Mah Jongg was being played in China.

 

1920

Mah Jongg came to the United States.

Joseph Park Babcock published the "Red Book” that stated the

simplified rules of Mahjong which he had learned in China.

 

1937

The National Mah Jongg League standardized the Mah Jongg rules.

 

1937- Present

Mah Jongg has since grown popular throughout the U.S. and

more and more people have taken an interest in this ancient game.
