The hands-on and structured class consists of the fundamentals; the tiles and their function to the Charleston and the National Mah Jongg League rules, the terminology and using the current yearly card, to striving for the winning hand. NO Mah Jongg experience or knowledge is required and a practice Mah Jongg set is provided for the duration of this four week class. Upon completion you will be confident and knowledgeable to join a game of Mah Jongg and have sparked new friendships!

Workshop and series of classes/session and event cancellations required a 48 hour email notice before the workshop or by the first class of the series takes place or event for a refund.

Classes, workshops and events could occasionally be canceled by the instructor. If your event is canceled you will be notified by email, and you will receive a full refund or full credit towards another class, workshop and event if you choose.

One Day Mah Jongg Brush Up/Review
For students who have already learned how to play Mah Jongg but need a refresher, this one day class is for you. Maybe life got in the way, now your missing the game and would like to get back to playing. There is no need to take a 4 week classes again. If you're not sure where else to turn to and are not confident enough to walk into any game site as you feel like a newbie, I have a solution. I am offering a one day class in my home in Howell (Ramtown section, Brick boarder, exit 91 Parkway).
We will review how set up and start the game, choose a hand, brush up on the rules of the game with tips and helpers and, finally, begin a supervised game of Mah Jongg.

Perfect for those who have taken Beginner Mah Jongg Class or are familiar with the basics and are now ready to sharpen their skills.
We will work on picking hands, build confidence and improve your play through guided play!

Raise the level of your game!
We will continue to play American Mah Jongg and will emphasize on strategies and techniques designed to improve your game and to help you play more defensively. Classes will cover strategies, developing and sharpening skills, while still providing ample time for play to test your new skills and have fun.
Players should bring their National Mah Jongg
League (NMJL) card.
Note: This class is designed for players who are already comfortable reading the card, and who have been playing consistently for a minimum of 6 months, or who have completed a Beginner American Mah Jongg series.

New Card Workshop Description
It’s Here! Can’t Wait to Play! Join us for a mini Mah Jongg Bootcamp, one day session on the much anticipated annual NMJL Card.

How do you decipher it? Which hands and section are new and which stayed the same? Are there “tricky” hands, more concealed hands, and what are the NEWS & dragon combinations all about? Christine Blackford will guide you through the changes and challenges of the the current year card. Then she will supervise play as you try your luck with the new hands and ease into the new current year NMJL Card.

Note: Please bring your own NEW card (order it now from nationalmahjonggleague.org) as well as your the previous year card for reference. Attendees should already know the rules of play and be familiar with the National Mah Jongg League Card set up, this is not a learn to play class. 3 hour workshop

This is the complete Beginner Class from the start we play and adapt each class until we are fully following the NMJL rules. We play for the win...fruit snacks, candy, treats, stickers, erasers, and marbles

Tweens & Teens are quick learns and adapt easily to this great, friendly, and competitive game. Mah Jongg teaches life’s skills: Problem Solving, Socialization skills, Strategy skills, Etiquette skills and to be patient, kind & courtesy. Establish and maintain relationships... and as Julia Roberts said who loves to play Mah Jongg with her niece Emma Roberts “teaches you how to make order out of chaos".
